To maintain, protect, improve and develop the River Clyde and its tributaries upstream of the Erskine Bridge as a fishery for the good of the public.

To promote improvement of the habitat of fish species within the catchment, action being based on relevant scientific research and where appropriate, in partnership with the Clyde River Foundation.

To use all available means to enhance the existing arrangements for protecting all parts of the fishery from predation through illegal fishing.

To provide effective, collective representation of members in dealing with the Scottish Executive, the crown Estates, Unitary Authorities, SEPA, Scottish Water, Scottish Natural Heritage et alia. We also aim to support individual members where appropriate

To actively promote the RCFMT as a point of contact for organisations as above, or other agencies whose activities may impact on river habitats, and to disseminate information to members as appropriate

To encourage participation and representation at local and sub-catchment levels in parallel activities such as Local Biodiversity Action Groups or local authority projects.

To provide a regular forum in which members can discuss matters of mutual interest, resolve conflicts and pursue common objectives.
